About Jenny Vines BEng CEng MRINA

Jenny is a Director of Maritime Projects. She is an accomplished independent consultant with three decades of experience in the maritime industry. She brings expertise in maritime safety, engineering, project management, interpersonal communication, and project planning. ​

Holding a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering from the University of Southampton, her career has spanned diverse roles. These include serving as a project manager at a ship repair yard, working as a surveyor in both newbuild and ship repair sectors in UK and abroad for a classification society, contributing to marine engineering-focused sales, and acting as a surveyor and regulatory policy advisor for the U.K. Government, specialising in commercial ships and their equipment. Latterly she has been advising technology companies on navigating a path through regulations including for fully autonomous, and novel design vessels, assisting companies with decarbonisation issues, attaining type approvals assisting with vessel and company safety management systems, acting as a Designated Person Ashore and improving safe newbuild yard practices.

She has experience with on board training, inspecting and auditing on larger convention vessels and <24m vessels.

As part of being a Chartered Naval Architect with the Royal Institution of Naval Architects (RINA), Jenny is informally mentoring a number of Graduate Naval Architects and she has presented on panels at her local university to support and encourage undergraduates.

Jenny Vines is a Member of the Royal Institution Of Naval Architects (MRINA) and a Chartered Engineer (CEng) by the Engineering Council. She is a qualified Lead Auditor, a Member of LR's Technical Committee and a Member of RINA's Maritime Safety Committee.
